If you are suddenly getting AirTag’s low battery warning, don’t get panicked. There is a very cheap way to solve this problem.
Usually, when the AirTag’s battery level goes below the average, you may start getting warnings on your iPhone, Mac, Apple Watch, and other Apple devices. It usually comes with the following message:
Low battery
Some features aren’t available
Don’t consider buying a new AirTag or replacing it with another in this type of situation. Instead, you should replace the battery.
How to solve the AirTag low battery warning?
The only good method is replacing the battery. Even though you can continue using this tracking device for a few more days, it’s better to take action before it’s too late.
The battery replacement on AirTag involves the following steps:
Buy a new compatible CR2032 battery
- Visit this page to see the available AirTag batteries (CR2032).
- Buy the one from a reputable seller.
Please note that only the CR2032 lithium 3V coin battery is compatible with AirTag. If you try to use anything else, it may damage the device.
Replace the battery on AirTag
- Take the AirTag in your hand.
- Push down on the back of the AirTag, usually where you see the Apple logo, and twist it anti-clockwise to uncover the battery.
- Now, remove the existing battery.
- Place the new CR2032 lithium 3V battery.
- Put the cover, push it down, and twist it clockwise to lock.
You should hear a sound from the AirTag. Check on your iPhone and see if the AirTag is working again or not.
A temporary solution to solve the low battery warning without replacing the battery on AirTag
Though it’s not recommended and may not be effective, you can still try it. You will need to remove the AirTag battery and place it again. It should remove the low battery warning.
In my case, when I first got the warning for the AirTag attached to my motorcycle key, I followed this trick. It temporarily fixed the warning, and all the AirTag features became available again.
